Project 11 – Functionalized Organic Field Effect Transistors

Niyazi Serdar Sariciftci, o.Univ.Prof.Dr.

The goal of this project is to produce and investigate the properties of highly ordered organic thin-films fabricated for practical applications in organic electronics devices such as OFETS. From well ordered thin-films grown on crystalline substrate, we will construct OFETS without hampering the integrity of the organic structured film. The electrical characterisation of the devices allows the determination of the intrinsic charge carrier mobility. By varying materials and preparation conditions, the charge carrier mobilities, preferentially the mobilities of charge carriers of both signs, will be optimized.

Furthermore, the sensitivity of such OFETS to light (photoresponsive OFETS, photOFETS) or to gases such as H2, N2, NO2, O2 (chemically responsive OFETS, chemOFETS) will be investigated.
